After a two-day class in fly tying led by master of the classics, Ron Alcott, Michael Radencich took up tying Salmon flies in earnest. Smitten by them in his late teens, after experimenting with trout fly tying and fishing while a University of Kansas student, Radencich had picked up a copy of Hester’s book on fly tying which included a chapter on classic Salmon ties.
The Lange family has been purchasing Michael’s exquisite flies since the early 2000s when the winery’s packaging was revisioned to prominently feature a salmon fly on each label. Each fly represents the Langes’ deep love of nature and their enduring commitment to sustainable farming practices.
