DISCOVER THE WORLD OF LANGE
In In 1987 Don and Wendy Lange took a chance on a 30-acre parcel in the Northern Willamette Valley. The decision to farm grapes on an untamed woodland lot was guided in part by diligent research, intuition, and a bit of luck.
Their estate vineyards would later become a part of the prestigious Dundee HIlls AVA—known for its rust-red, volcanic soils, Dundee Hills Pinot Noir has garnered worldwide acclaim and has helped to shine the spotlight on Oregon wines.
Lange Estate is one of the pioneering wineries that helped to shape the modern era of Willamette Valley winemaking. As an independent, family owned winery, the Langes are dedicated to crafting exceptional examples of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris. Named “one of the great Pinot Noir producers in the United States” by Wine Enthusiast, the winery has enjoyed a decades-long track record of producing noteworthy wines.
The 2018 Pinot Noir is a fine example of expert blending by our winemaking team, and is an assemblage of all our North Willamette Valley vineyard sites, including our own estate. Embodying our true ‘Classique’ style, the 2018 is fresh and approachable upon release, with a perfumed nose of black cherry and raspberry, followed by sweet cedar and violets.

Pale lemon yellow in the glass, the 2019 Chardonnay is fresh and focused, with layered aromas reminiscent of a fresh spring day—dewy pear, yellow apple, and melon lie beneath lighter tones of hawthorn flower and honey. Fermentation in mostly neutral oak and stainless steel lends this wine precise balance and structure along with a mineral-infused spine of lemon pith and wet stone.

The Langes were the 4th producer of Pinot Gris in the United States and have built a reputation for crafting some of Oregon’s finest examples of this popular varietal. The 2019 Pinot Gris offers up a tantalizing bouquet of cantaloupe, pineapple, pear, and bergamot; with a crisp and lissome palate of citrus fruit and limestone.

From the start, the Lange family’s commitment to producing world-class wines informed their winemaking and farming practices. The choice to farm in synergy with nature was an intuitive one. To that end, the Lange’s sought to gain certification through the Low Impact Viticulture and Enology program. Following a rigorous evaluation, their three estate vineyards were LIVE certified in 2006. A certification they proudly maintain to this day.
The Salmon-Safe certification followed on the heels of the Live program. It expands upon LIVE’s core tenants with a focus on the preservation of watershed quality, responsible control of farm run-off, and strives to maintain the health and biodiversity in Oregon’s Willamette Valley tributaries.
Our three LIVE and Salmon Safe-certified estate vineyards span a total of sixty acres. Dedicated to crafting vibrant, terroir-driven wines, our vineyard team employs a meticulous block-by-block approach to farming that builds on our 30+ years of experience and wisdom cultivating our land.
