Don Lange | Owner & Winemaker

An academic at heart, Executive Winemaker Don Lange’s background is based in the humanities. A graduate of the University of Iowa’s Writer Workshop, this Midwest native received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts which led him to pursue a career as a songwriter and folk musician, recording three albums and giving him the opportunity to rub elbows with the likes of Steve Goodman and John Prine.

When Don and Wendy – a kindred spirit with a background in literature and ballet – found themselves in Santa Barbara, they committed themselves to making wine with a special focus on Pinot Noir. Together they discovered the lesser known wine region of the Willamette Valley and, within a year, had settled on farmland in the Dundee Hills and began building their Lange legacy.
